University Administration

The vice president for University Administration provides daily, direct support to the university president, oversees Institutional Compliance and Ethics and University Communications and Public Relations, and serves as the president’s liaison with Staff Council and San Marcos city officials and for financial and contract management purposes with the Department of Athletics.

Specific responsibilities of the Office of University Administration include preparing presidential materials for The Texas State University System Board of Regents and the chancellor; managing presidential email; preparing/reviewing presidential correspondence, presentations, statements, reports, and talking points/speeches for internal and external audiences; coordinating state governmental relations; preparing materials for Legislative Sessions; preparing and managing cabinet meeting agendas; drafting minutes for president’s cabinet meetings; coordinating semi-annual Cabinet Retreats; preparing open records responses; and facilitating cross-divisional presidential projects and initiatives.

Mission

University Administration’s mission is two-fold:

  1. To solidify Texas State’s commitment to ethical behavior and compliance – to behave in ways that are consistent with our values and all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies that govern Texas State - through the development, implementation, evaluation, and refinement of an institutional compliance program; and
  2. To elevate Texas State through strategic communications, media relations, and digital engagement. We are focused on telling compelling and engaging stories about the myriad of ways TXST is a top national research university and a vibrant place to learn, discover, create, and serve. We support presidential communications; collaborate with and advise departments across the university on their respective outreach and communication initiatives; and respond swiftly to crises and reputational challenges when the need arises. Our target audiences are internal in the TXST community (students, faculty, and staff), as well as external (news media, stakeholders, alumni, and donors).
